Frequently Asked Questions

A Child Arrangement Order is a Court Order which states who a child is to live with following a separation or divorce and when the non-resident parent will see the child. In most cases, child arrangements are made between the parents themselves. However, if a dispute develops, you may have to go to the Family Court to get a Child Arrangement Order.

The family law system in England and Wales is set up to support parents in working out disputes between themselves or with the help of mediation. Our Family Law Solicitors will support you through this process. However, sometimes court action is inevitable, especially in cases where a Specific Issue Order or Prohibited Steps Order are sought, and parties cannot reach an agreement through mediation. Although going to court may seem frightening, you can be confident that we will be by your side and tenaciously fighting for the best outcome for your children.

When parents separate, often one set of grandparents finds themselves cut off from their precious grandchildren by their ex-son or daughter-in-law. To gain visitation rights, grandparents must apply to the Court for permission to seek a Child Arrangement Order. As with all family law matters, we will do everything possible to help you and your grandchild’s parents resolve matters through mediation or round-table negotiation before we apply for a Court Order.

In all family law cases involving children, the best interests of the child are the judge’s chief concern. This means that although the Court will take your feelings and worries into consideration, the ultimate decision will always turn on what is best for the child.

If you are dealing with a dispute concerning your children, you can trust that we will always be on your side, protecting your best interests.
